Premise Excert

Okay for now, the latest novel from Gary Schmint, explores another seemingly implrobable alliance. This one between new outsider in town Doug Swieteck and Lil Spicer. With her challenging assistance, Doug discovers new sides of him self. Along the way, he also adjust his relationship with his abusive father, his peers , and his older brothers.

My Thoughts

First I want to say to you all this. I don't cry often when reading books often. The writer must be really good at expressing feeling in the words to do this for me. I have to some how be invested in them or it just triggers something I can't explain. Well I'll tell you this book did it for me. At first  I thought this was a young boy with a bad attitude that wouldn't learn anything. Then I find out why he is this way. It seems as though things in life are pressing in at all sides on this child. When they move I  thought maybe this is what he needed. Then Gary adds that twist in there and I said maybe he isn't going to be good after all. I mean it took the second break- in for me to guess who was doing it. I have to say that I was a little put off by his writing style. But it grew on me and it did add some spice to the character. I love the art work that was included. It was refreshing to see the pieces with out having to wonder. They say music will soothe a savage beast. I believe art did it for Doug.
